I believe career satisfaction is possible for each of us.  Most of us have never given ourselves the chance to figure out what actually satisfies us in terms of our career.  We fall into our careers, we follow our degrees or what our inner circle thinks is best for us.  We may even be moderately satisfied with our career but wonder if there is “something more” out there for us.  Pretty soon we start making more and more money in our chosen profession which can make it hard to know that there can be more rewarding work out there.  The big dilemma is – How can I figure out my career issues in the most efficient way possible?  How can I ensure that I don’t get overwhelmed or stuck?  How can I make sure that I don’t overlook any viable option?  How can I make sure I don’t have to “start over?”

Career Discovery is the creative, interesting and growth-filled process that everyone should go through at least once in their lives.  Career decisions resulting from this work are significant because they often have long term impacts and can directly affect our quality of life.  People often need a safe place to consider their options, to learn about themselves, and to see the bigger picture of their career story.  I can help you do this by helping you evaluate your career situation, generate options and plan for your next career move.  

There are 2 pathways here:  Coach Joan's Career Discovery Program and Coach Joan's Career Refocus Program.  Depending on what you discover in the first 3 sessions, you should be able to answer the question:  Is my current career choice adequately supporting my career purpose?  If the answer is no, my current career choice does not adequately support my career purpose and I want a career change, I recommend Coach Joan's Career Discovery Program.  If the answer to this is question is yes, my current career choice adequately supports my career purpose, then I recommend Coach Joan's Career Refocus Program.  What's great is that you don't need to know the answer right now.  You can start in the Career Discovery Program and decide later if your career needs to be changed or not.  In 6 intentionally designed coaching sessions, you can achieve these outcomes:

• Career Purpose:  Using a Narrative Interview process, together we discover your Career Purpose, your career self-concept, and your definition of success.
  
• Career Values / Satisfiers:  Using the Kerwin Values Survey (KVS) ™, we reconnect with your Career Values so you are clear about what satisfaction looks life for you.  All your values and needs, like worklife balance, financial and health considerations, comraderie at work and career growth, are all considered so that your career has its proper place in your life. 

• Career Assessments:  Here you get to learn more about yourself by taking 2 career assessments:  the Myers Briggs Type Indicator - MBTI ™ and Strong Interest Inventory (SII)™ . Using these time tested career assessments, you will learn what you basic personality is and use that to hone in on what satisfies you.  You will also learn what your career interests are and what occupations are most likely to give you satisfaction. 

• Top Career Interests & Motivated Skills: Using what we've learned from your career purpose, career satisfiers and career assessments exercises, we focus in on your career interests and motivated skills.  You have many interests and many skills - which ones do you want to develop and use in your next job?
• Career Generator:  Combining what you've learned about your career purpose, values, interests and skills, we generate many workable career options for you that are in alignment with your Career Purpose and your life needs. This is a fun, creative and thorough approach to ensuring you are considering all of your best career options NOW!
• Career Choice / Research & the Path Forward:  Using a reliable filter you create, we evaluate many career options to narrow it down to your Top 2 Career Choices.   These are real and satisfying choices that come from you! Finally, so that you are not left with great ideas but nowhere to go, we spend a very focused session defining the path forward including planning, goal setting, research and Career Change Project management.
